Analytics and cookies

The Nakasako Sakana website uses Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, to understand usage and improve the site. Cookies are small pieces of data stored in your browser. Google Analytics uses cookies with names beginning with “_ga” and “_ga_”, among others, to identify browsers and visits.

Analytics starts only after you choose “Allow”. The site then sends Google information such as page URLs and titles, referrers, device and browser information, and cookie identifiers. Your IP address is also communicated to Google as part of the connection. This site does not send your name or email address for analytics. Ad personalization and Google signals are disabled.

If you have not chosen or have declined, the Google Analytics tag is not loaded and no analytics takes place. Browsing history from before consent is not sent later. You can use the site even if you decline.

Saving and changing your choice

Your allow/decline choice, the time it was saved and the settings version are stored in your browser’s localStorage for 180 days. This is used to remember your choice and is not sent to Google. The choice panel appears again when the record expires or is deleted. If storage is restricted, your choice is kept only while the page remains open.

You can change your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of each page. Changing from allow to decline stops further analytics and deletes Google Analytics cookies that this site can remove. It does not delete information already sent.

Display language preference

The language you choose in the language menu or suggestion is saved in this browser’s localStorage and used for future language suggestions. The display language is always determined by the URL; you are never redirected automatically. On Japanese pages, we suggest an available language version based first on your saved choice, then on your browser’s preferred languages. The saved choice has no expiry date. You can change it in the language menu, or remove it by clearing this site’s data in your browser. This works independently of your analytics consent, and saving this setting does not itself send data to any external service. If storage is restricted, your choice cannot be remembered for your next visit.

External services including YouTube

Video thumbnails on the works page are fetched from YouTube (i.ytimg.com), so connection information such as your IP address is sent to Google when images are displayed. Pressing play loads the privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com). Playing a video connects to Google, and information is handled under YouTube’s policies.

YouTube use is separate from this site’s analytics. Even if you decline analytics, thumbnails are fetched and videos play when you choose to start them. External links, including social media and shops, are governed by each service’s own policies.
